Drillsearch Finds New Gas in Cooper Basin

Drillsearch Energy has discovered gas with the Southend-1 exploration well in the Cooper Basin.

The Southend-1 exploration well encountered gas shows in the Patchawarra Formation and Tirrawarra Sandstone and operations are underway to case and suspend the well for future cased-hole extended production testing.

Several Drill Stem Tests (DST’s) were attempted over two intervals, however, due to apparent mechanical issues a full DST was not able to be completed. Notwithstanding, a 3 minute gas flow was achieved that proved the presence of movable gas.

Southend-1 is located about 5 kilometres southwest of Santos’ prolific Raven Wet Gas Field and 10 kilometres south of the Middleton Brownlow Wet Gas field in PEL 106B.

Drillsearch holds a 60% working interest in PEL 107 while Beach Energy holds the remaining 40%.
