Delta Seeks LNG for Vietnam Power Plant

Singapore’s Delta Offshore Energy has launched a request for proposal (RFP) for delivery of LNG to Vietnam, it said on September 8.

Delta’s RFP is for 2.5-3mn metric tons/year of LNG over a 25-year period, on a delivery ex-ship or freight on board basis to the proposed offshore LNG regasification facility in Bac Lieu province. The bidding opened September 9 and closes September 27.

The Bac Lieu LNG facility is expected to start up in 2024 and supply a 3.2-GW power plant Delta plans to build. The company awarded a contract to US engineering firm McDermott International in late August for the front-end engineering design of a 35-km pipeline to carry gas from the LNG terminal to the plant. Stena Power & LNG Solutions will also license its transfer and regasification technology for the terminal.

The gas-to-power project is fully approved by the Vietnamese government and included in the national Power Development Plan, Delta said.
