Dazhou in Sichuan Province Seeks 3 bn Yuan Investment in Shale Gas Resources

State-owned Assets Management Company in Dazhou is looking for 3 billion yuan ($0.47 bn) of investment from countries along the "Belt and Road" for a shale gas exploration, development and comprehensive utilization project in the prefecture-level division of Sichuan province.

The project includes construction of new shale gas exploration platforms, construction of pipelines and affiliated facilities, and exploration, development and utilization of shale gas in Dazhou, Xinhua Finance reported Tuesday.

Earlier this month CNPC said it added 207.87 square kilometers of new shale gas bearing areas in well blocks of Wei-202, Ning-201, and YS108, with proven original gas in place of 163.53 billion cubic meters and technically recoverable reserves of 40.88 billion cubic meters in Sichuan basin.

All the three well blocks are located in the national shale gas demonstration zone in the Sichuan basin.

According to CNPC by August 27, 47 wells have been put into production in the newly proved areas, producing 3.62 million cubic meters per day, enough for domestic gas use of 2.8 million families.

This is the first time for CNPC to submit proven shale gas reserves to the Ministry of Land and Resources, the company said.
