Dana Starts First Gas at Dutch Van Nes Field

Dana Petroleum has begun first production at the Van Nes field in the Netherlands with an initial output of 4,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd).

The company says the Dutch continental shelf field which is located in Block P11b will produce gas via the De Ruyter platform. Dana will take 50 per cent of the daily output at 2,000 boepd as a 50 per cent stakeholder with operator and equal shareholder EBN taking the other 2,000 boepd.

The field is the 47th producing field to be added to Dana's portfolio.

The subsea well, which is located about 60 kilometres northwest of the Hague, is part of the Medway development area in the Dutch North Sea.

Dana's MD for the Netherlands Reidar Hustoft said that both companies would continue to work to develop the licence and the surrounding area.

"We are delighted to have brought Van Nes into production, which completes the Medway subsea development project and months of hard work from the teams involved," he said.

"In January 2012, we successfully completed phase 1 of the Medway project by starting up the Van Ghent tri-lateral oil well. We are very pleased that we have delivered this project safely and without environmental incidents...

"We look forward to working with our joint venture partner EBN to maintain these standards as we continue to seek further growth opportunities within the wider De Ruyter area."
