Daewoo Picks up Greek LNGC Order

South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has won a $380mn order from a Greek company for the construction of an LNG carrier (LNGC) and two oil tankers.

The LNGC with a storage capacity of 174,000 mwill be delivered by the first quarter of 2022 to Maran Gas Maritime, while the very large crude carriers will be supplied to Maran Tankers Management the previous year. Both companies are subsidiaries of the Angelicoussis Shipping Group.

Angelicoussis is one of DSME’s biggest clients, having ordered 110 vessels since 1994. DSME has secured orders worth $5.7bn for 30 ships so far this year, with Angelicoussis accounting for 70% of its LNGC orders.
