Daewoo Gets LNG Carrier Order from Greece

South Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) June 8 said it has received an order from Alpha Gas to build one LNG carrier. The company has also bagged an order for two very large crude-oil carriers for an overseas shipper.

The will be the third LNG carrier ordered by Alpha Gas, a unit of Greece's Pantheon Tankers. In March, Alpha Gas had placed an order for two 173,400 m3 LNG carriers. The third carrier will be delivered by 1H2021 while the first two vessels are expected to be delivered by end-2020. The carrier will be equipped with a natural gas propulsion engine and a full re-liquefaction system, DSME said.

For far this year, DSME has won orders worth $3bn for 25 vessels, including 9 LNG carriers, 15 large crude oil carriers, and one special ship, it said.
