Czech-Austria Capacity Goes Quarterly

The Austrian and Czech gas transmission system operators (TSOs), Gas Connect Austria and Net4Gas, have decided to offer the remaining cross-border Trading Region Upgrade (TRU) service quantity, which was not sold in their popular July yearly auction, as a quarterly service.

The bidding window for the quarterly auction will open on 6 August 2018 at 9am central European standard time. The main aim of the new specially designed TRU service, connecting the Austrian and the Czech gas markets, is to simplify transaction procedures and reduce transaction costs, the two TSOs said.

About 20% of the total offered TRU capacity from the Czech Republic to Austria was left unsold in the TSOs' July auction, and this is what will now be offered on a quarterly basis.
