Cumulative Output from China's Tarim Field Crosses 200 bcm

Cumulative natural gas output from Tarim field in northwest China's Xinjiang region has crossed 200 billion cubic meters (bcm).

The field went into operation in 2004 when China’s East-West pipeline project came online.

The annual gas supply of the Tarim field increased from 351 million cubic meters in 2004 to 23.55 billion cubic meters in 2015, Xinhua Finance Agency reported last week citing latest data from the PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Company.

In the past five years, Tarim field contributed one sixth of the national total gas output annually, according to the company.

As a major natural gas source for the West-East Gas pipeline, Tarim Oilfield has provided gas supply to about 400 million residents and over 3,000 enterprises in more than 120 medium and large cities across 15 provinces and municipalities in China, Xinhua Finance added.
