Cuadrilla Ruling to be Appealed

The BBC has reported that a fresh legal challenge has been mounted to Cuadrilla Resources' attempts to drill and frack in Lancashire.

It is based on a claim that the government has not fully assessed the impact of greenhouse gas emissions from the site over the next three years.

This represents an appeal against a High Court verdict last month that dismissed claims made against the decision by Secretary of State for Communities, Sajid Javid, to grant planning consent for its shale drilling site at Preston New Road, near Blackpool in Lancashire.

Cuadrilla welcomed last month's High Court ruling. According to the BBC report, it "noted" that the High Court is to be challenged in the Court of Appeal.
