Croatian FSRU Arrives on Site

The floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) that will serve at Croatia's LNG terminal on Krk Island has arrived at the site, project operator LNG Croatia said on December 1. The terminal's commissioning has begun ahead of its commercial start-up on January 1 2021.

The Krk terminal will have a capacity of around 2.6bn m3/year, providing gas not only for Croatia but also some of its neighbours. Croatia's economy ministry said separately that the FSRU had a 140,200-m3 storage capacity and was equipped with three regasification units with a maximum capacity of 451,840 m3/hour.  The vessel departed the Viktor Lenac shipyard in Croatia in late November to collect a commissioning cargo from the Spanish port of Sagunto.

The bulk of the terminal's capacity has been booked by Qatar-based Power Global. Qatar is planning an aggressive expansion of its LNG export capability over the next decade, despite bearish conditions on the global gas market.
