Cooper Basin Focused Real Energy Upgrades Gas Resources by 141%

Cooper Basin focused oil and gas exploration company Real Energy has upgraded gas resources for ATP927P by more than 141 percent to 13.761 trillion cubic feet (Tcf).

“We have been extremely pleased with the results from our first two exploration wells, which have resulted in a substantial contingent gas resources booking. We remain confident that there is significant scope to further grow the contingent gas resources in the future,” Real Energy Managing Director Scott Brown commented.

Brown said that Real Energy is looking to frack the Queenscliff-1 and Tamarama-1 wells to prove the deliverability of the gas resources.

“Geomechanical modelling and frac studies have indicated that the gas resources in the Permian Toolachee and Patchawarra formations can be commercially developed,” he said.

ATP 927P comprises four separate blocks with a total area of approximately 1,718 sq. km, located 100km north-west of Eromanga in southwest Queensland.

According to company website, Real Energy’s initial focus is on the exploration and development of unconventional gas and oil resources and conventional oil in the Cooper and Eromanga Basins.  The main unconventional plays in Real Energy’s current asset portfolio are condensate-rich gas interpreted to be trapped as a continuous gas play in the Permian sedimentary sequence within the area of ATP 917P and ATP 927P, and the Cretaceous Toolebuc shale oil and gas play in the Eromanga Basin section, developed in all three permits.  In addition, Real Energy will also pursue conventional oil and gas plays in the Eromanga and Cooper Basins within the company’s permits.
