Construction at Italian power plant scheduled for August

Italy's EP Produzione SPA has announced an August 2022 start date for construction work on a new 800 MW combined cycle gas turbine power unit in the Italian municipality of Ostiglia.

The Ostiglia CCGT unit is due online in February 2025 but will synchronise its first power load to the Italian grid six months earlier, in August 2024. Ostiglia already hosts a 1,140MW gas-fired power station that was converted from fuel oil and natural gas to three CCGT modules in the early 2000s.

The project, situated in Italy's northern Lombardy region, is being completed in several stages. EP Produzione subsidiary EP Power Europe owns the project with a 100% operated stake.
