Southeast Asia-focused Coro Energy October 4 said it has started drilling the Tambak-2 well, in Duyung production-sharing contract (PSC) in the West Natuna Basin, offshore Indonesia.

The drilling rig Asian Endeavour 1 was moved from Singapore on September 24 and has been on location since September 30. Pre-loading of equipment and supplies for the two well programme is completed and the drilling has begun, Coro said. Conrad Petroleum operates the Duyung PSC with a 76.5% interest, while Coro has 15% and another London-traded company called Empyrean Energy has 8.5%.

The Tambak-2 well is primarily designed as an appraisal of the southern area of the Mako gas field. The well is planned to reach about 595 metres below sea level. “A full reservoir evaluation programme is planned, including an extensive suite of logs, coring and open hole testing, in order to derive as much information as possible about the Mako gas field reservoir,” Coro said.
