ConocoPhillips Confirms Completion of Legowo LE1 Well

In a third-quarter earnings report today,  ConocoPhillips confirmed the completion of a second vertical well, testing a possible shale gas play in Poland.

ConocoPhillips is in partnership with Lane Energy Poland Sp.z.o.o., a subsidiary of 3Legs Resources plc,  the operator of the Legowo LE1 well in its Baltic concessions.  Lane has not previously commented on the completion status of the Legowo LE1 well.

The Legowo well is located approximately 20km south of Gdańsk and just north of the town of Pszczołki and is targeted at the Silurian and Ordovician shales.

Lane’s first well, Lebien-LE1, reached total depth on July 28th.

In August 2009, 3Legs and ConocoPhillips, the third largest integrated energy company in the US, entered into an agreement to jointly evaluate the potential of Lane's six Baltic Basin licences covering an area of ~1 million acres (approximately 4,000 square kilometres).

ConocoPhillips reported that additional tests were being conducted on Lebein- LE1.
