Ukraine Decision on LNG Terminal in January

Before the end of January, Ukraine will determine the company that will build the LNG terminal, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavytsky told reporters before the government meeting on Wednesday.

"Now there are three proposals to build the LNG terminal. We are studying them and will determine before the end of January who will build it," he said.

Stavytsky added that the offers of a Korean and Chinese companies are being studied, and then it will be determined whether to sign a new agreement or operate within the old one.

Earlier, the head of the State Agency for Investment and National Projects, Vladyslav Kaskiv, pointed to elaboration of more than 12 different agreements on implementation of the project.

As reported, November 26, 2012, an agreement was signed in Kyiv to establish a consortium of investors in the national project LNG Terminal between the State Agency for Investment and National Projects and the Spanish company Gas Natural SDG, SA. The next day Gas Natural Fenosa denied its involvement in the project.
