CNPC's Changqing Field Produces Record Gas

State-owned CNPC-operated Changqing oil field's natural gas production during the January 1-December 21 period was over 40bn m3, a record, CNPC said December 23 in a statement.

CNPC said it expects the full-year output to be 41.2bn m3, accounting for about 25% of China’s overall natural gas production. Last year the field produced 38.75bn m3 of natural gas. Changqing, located in Inner Mongolia, is one of China’s biggest fields.

As domestic gas demand continues to be robust, Chinese state-owned explorers have ramped up production this year. In the first 11 months of the year, production totalled 157.5bn m3, an increase of 9.2% compared with the same period of last year, the country’s statistics department said on December 16.
