CNPC subsidiary hits gas production milestone

PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company produced a record 35.42bn m3 of natural gas in 2021, its parent company CNPC said on January 10.

CNPC did not disclose the year-on-year comparison but said that the annual production of natural gas “has achieved double-digit growth for three consecutive years”. The southwest oil and gas field, which is operated by PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company, accounts for about 17.2% of China’s annual natural gas production.

The state-owned company said that natural gas sales in 2021 were up 11% yr/yr. CNPC in 2020 said PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company aims to produce 50bn m3/year of natural gas by 2025, and 80bn m3/yr by 2030.

PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field Company is mainly engaged in oil and gas exploration and development, oil and gas gathering and transmission, marketing and logistic services business in Sichuan and Xichang basins.
