CNPC Ramps Up Output at Xinjiang Oilfield

CNPC’s Xinjiang oilfield produced 3.02mn metric tons of crude oil and 746mn m3 of natural gas in the first three months of the year, exceeding the target, the company said April 14. CNPC did not provide any yr/yr comparison.

According to CNPC, the crude oil output exceeded the target by 12,000 mt of oil and 20mn m3 of gas. Xinjiang Oilfield Company, a unit of CNPC and the operator of the field, has increased the workforce from nine in late-February to 222 at present.

In April, the company plans to further ramp up output and expects to produce 34,000 mt/day of oil and 75mn m3/day of natural gas during this month, CNPC said.

The Xinjiang oilfield, a major production base in China, is located in the northwestern Xinjiang province.
