CNPC Ramps Up Gas Production at Changqing Oil Field

State-owned CNPC-operated Changqing oil field's natural gas prodcution in the first seven months of this year was 24.72bn m3, an increase of almost 8% year on year, the company said August 15.

Changqing, located in Inner Mongolia, is one of China’s biggest fields and accounts for close to a quarter of country’s overall gas production, according to CNPC. Last year the field produced 38.75bn m3 of natural gas.

As domestic gas demand continues to be robust, Chinese state-owned explorers have ramped up production this year. In the first seven months of 2019, Chinese natural gas production was 100.3bn m3, an increase of 9.7% compared with the same period of last year, country’s statistics department said August 15.
