CNPC, Private Partner Plan LNG Terminal in Guangdong

State-run CNPC on June 4 signed an agreement with privately-owned GCL Oil and Gas Company, the Maoming City government, and the Maoming Port Group, to build an LNG receiving terminal in the Guangdong province, CNPC said on June 9 in a statement.

The import terminal will be located in the Bohe New Port area of Maoming Port. It will consist of two unloading berths, two LNG storage tanks, a truck loading facility and other required infrastructure. CNPC did not disclose the capacity, but according to local media reports, the terminal will be able to handle 3mn metric tons/year of LNG.

CNPC said the project will accelerate the usage of gas in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
