Cnooc's Guangdong Branch's Gas Sales Up

Chinese state-owned Cnooc’s Guangdong branch’s gas sales during January 1-November 18 exceeded 10bn m3 for the first time, marking a rise of 26% year-on-year, it said November 19.

Guangdong branch supplies gas to provinces of Guangdong, Hunan and Hubei, as well as Hong Kong and Macao and other regions via pipelines and LNG tanker trucks. The downstream users are mainly power plants, city gas entities and industrial units.

During the winter season, which runs from November to March, the Guangdong branch will supply 16mn m3/day of gas, twice the highest peak of single-day gas supply seen last winter, Cnooc said.

The state-owned firm supplies natural gas sourced from its offshore and coalbed methane fields as well as from overseas in the form of LNG. Cnooc is China's largest LNG importer and operates nine receiving terminals.
