Cnooc Signs EPC Contract for Longkou Terminal

Cnooc Gas and Power, a unit of state-owned Cnooc, March 31 signed the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the first phase development of the Longkou LNG receiving terminal in Shandong province, it said April 3.

Cnooc Offshore Oil Engineering and Cnooc Petrochemical Engineering will form a consortium for the project work. In the first phase the terminal will have a capacity to handle 5mn metric tons/year of LNG, Cnooc Gas and Power said. It will have six tanks, each with a storage capacity of 220,000 m3. The terminal is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2022.

Last year, Cnooc Gas and Power and Nanshan Group signed the cooperation framework agreement to jointly build the Longkou Nanshan LNG receiving terminal, which will be located in the Longkou Port. The terminal is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2022 and will supply gas to downstream customers in Shandong province and the Bohai Bay Economic region.

Cnooc Gas and Power operates nine LNG import terminals at Tianjin, Shanghai, Ningbo, Putian, Yuedong, Dapeng, Zhuhai, Hainan and Shenzhen - most of which are part-owned by others.
