Chubu Electric Will Supply Gas to Tohoku Electric

Chubu Electric Power has signed basic agreement to sell natural gas to Tohoku Electric Power.

In a statement published Friday, Chubu said it will supply natural gas equivalent to roughly 300,000 tonnes of LNG per year. Supplies will begin from June 2023 for a period of twenty years.

Tohoku in a separate statement said the gas will be supplied via pipeline to its 572-megawatt Joetsu No.1 gas-fired unit. Construction of the power plant will start in May 2019 and is scheduled to start operations in June 2023.
