Chinese LNG imports drop 28% in May

Chinese LNG imports in May were 4.93mn metric tons, down 28.1% year/year, customs department data published on June 18 showed. The imports were up 13.3% month/month, however.

The cumulative LNG imports during the first five months of the year were 26.49mn metric tons, down 19.6% yr/yr. The pipeline gas imports in May were 4.15mn metric tons, up 26% yr/yr. China’s cumulative pipeline gas imports in January-May came in at 18.42mn mt, up 11.3% yr/yr, the customs data showed.
