Chinese gas imports up 22% in Jan-Apr

China’s natural gas imports via pipeline and in the form of LNG in January-April were up 22.4% year/year to 39.45mn metric tons (mt), according to customs department data published on May 7. 

Imports in April came in at 10.14mn mt, up 31%% yr/yr and up 16.2% month/month. Chinese gas usage has spiked in recent months as a result of a rise in economic activity.
