    China's September Gas Imports Up 4%

China's September Gas Imports Up 4%

China imported 5.94mn metric tons of gas (LNG and pipeline equivalent) in September, up by 3.54% from the 5.73mn mt imported in the same month last year, figures released by country’s statistics bureau October 13 showed.

This continues the trend seen so far this year. China’s gas imports in September were only slightly higher than the 5.66mn mt bought in August 2017 (up by almost 70% year on year).

For January-September, total gas imported stood at 48.4mn mt, up 22.3% year on year.

Northeast Asia (Japan, South Korea, China and Taiwan) saw LNG imports increase by 14% year on year in H1 2017 according to recent data from shipbroker Clarksons Platou.
