China's March Gas Imports Down on Month

China’s natural gas imports (pipeline and LNG) in March were down month-on-month as the winter comes to an end.

According to customs department data published April 12, China imported 6.93mn metric tons of gas in March compared with 7.57mn mt in February, down 8.4%. The department did not offer any year-on-year comparison.

Imports have slowed down since the start of this year as winter season comes to an end. In January, China imported a record 9.81mn mt of  natural gas. 

Cumulative imports during the first three months were 24.26mn mt, up 17.8% compared with the first three months of 2018, the customs data showed.
