China's Jan-Feb Consumption Spikes

China’s natural gas consumption during the first two months of 2018 was 45.8bn m3, up 17.6% year on year, the country’s highest planning body the National Development and Reforms Commission said April 8.

During the first two months of 2018, natural gas imports were 19.7bn m3, up 40.5% year on year. In the same period, natural gas production was 26.5bn m3, an increase of 4.9% year-on-year.

China’s natural gas consumption has been trending higher since early 2017, resulting in higher imports of both pipeline gas and LNG. Strong demand has also forced state owned explorers to ramp up output.
