China's gas imports up 24% in H1

China’s natural gas imports via pipeline and in the form of LNG in January-June (H1) were up 23.8% year/year to 59.81mn metric tons (mt), according to customs department data published July 13. Imports in June came in at 10.20mn mt, down 1.2% month/month.

Chinese gas imports have been on an uptrend this year owing to robust domestic demand and recovery in economic activity post the COVID-19 pandemic.
