China's Gas Imports Rise 52% in October

China imported 5.81mn metric tons of gas (LNG and pipeline equivalent) in October, up 52% year on year, figures released by country’s statistics bureau November 8 showed.

This continues the trend seen so far this year. China’s gas imports in October were only slightly lower than the 5.94mn mt bought in September 2017 (up by almost 4% year on year).

For January-October, total gas imported stood at 54.16mn mt, up 25% year on year. These figures are already higher than the total imports in the whole of 2016 (54mn mt).

Northeast Asia (Japan, South Korea, China and Taiwan) saw LNG imports increase by 14% year on year in H1 2017 according to recent data from shipbroker Clarksons Platou.
