Chinese gas consumption up 17% in Jan-May

China’s gas consumption during the first five months of the year was 153.3bn m3, up 17.1% year/year, the National Development and Reform Commission said on June 30.

The consumption in May was 31.2bn m3, up 17.3% yr/yr. China’s natural gas imports via pipeline and in the form of LNG in January-May were up 24.5% yr/yr to 49.78mn metric tons, according to customs department data published on June 7.
