China's Ganyu LNG import terminal to start in 2026: press

The Ganyu LNG receiving terminal in Jiangsu province is expected to start operations by 2026, China Daily reported on June 11 citing a statement by China Huadian Corp, whose subsidiary is a co-owner of the project.

Entailing a total investment of around 6.4bn yuan ($956.8mn), the project was recently approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, China's highest planning body. Work on the project is expected to start during the second half of this year, China Daily said.

The terminal, which will have a capacity to import 6.5mn metric tons/year of LNG, is jointly owned by China Huadian Jiangsu Energy, Lianyungang Port Group, Prism Energy International, Jera Power International and BP.

China Huadian said the project will be a major part of the country's natural gas production, supply and storage system. It will be Jiangsu province's major LNG terminal base. The project will further ensure the gas supply in not only Jiangsu province but also the Yangtze River Delta region.
