China's December Output Highest in 36 Months

China's gas production in December rose to at least a three-year high as demand jumped due to the harsh winter and the government's push to promote the cleaner fuel, and producers ramped up operations to meet demand. The government has been actively promoting a switch from coal to natural gas in household, industries, and power generation.

According to the Chinese statistics bureau data released January 18, the country produced 13.61bn m3 of gas last month, up over 2% year on year from 13.31bn m3 produced in December 2016.

For full year 2017, China's natural gas output was 147.42bn m3, up 8.5% year on year.
