China's Cnooc Appoints New CEO

Chinese state-run Cnooc November 18 announced Xu Keqiang, an existing executive director and president of the company, has been appointed the new CEO.

Xu was appointed as an executive director and the president in April 2017. He was also appointed as the general manager of Cnooc China in May 2018.

Cnooc is the largest producer of offshore crude oil and natural gas in China. Its core operation areas are Bohai, Western South China Sea, Eastern South China Sea and East China Sea in offshore China. Overseas, the company has oil and gas assets in Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Oceania and Europe. As on December 31, 2018, Cnooc owned net proved reserves of approximately 4.96bn barrels of oil equivalent.
