China's August Gas Output Up 6%

China's gas output in August rose 6 percent on year to 10.4 billion cubic metres (bcm), news agency Reuters reported Sunday citing data from National Bureau of Statistics.

During the period January-August, gas output was 83.5 bcm, up 3 percent compared with corresponding period last year.

According to Reuters, sharp slowdown in demand growth has seen state energy companies curbing natural gas output at major conventional fields in southwestern Sichuan basin.

Domestic production fell two months in a row over April and May compared with a year earlier, before returning to moderate growth, the data showed.
