China's 9M Gas Output Up

China produced 115.6bn m3 of natural gas during the first nine months of 2018 (9M 2018), up 6.3% year-on-year, data published by country’s National Development and Reform Commission October 31 showed.

Chinese state-owned explorers have ramped up output to meet strong domestic demand. Last year, China's natural gas production was 147.42bn m³, up 8.5% year on year, according to statistics bureau data.

Strong demand has not only resulted in higher domestic output, but gas imports have also seen a sharp surge. During 9M 2018, China imported 64.78mn mt of gas, up 34% compared with the same period of 2017, according to customs department data.
