China Shanxi Province to Up CBM Output

China’s Shanxi province plans to increase the production of coalbed methane (CBM) this year, Xinhua reported February 19 quoting an official from the Shanxi provincial department of natural resources.

Shanxi’s CBM output this year is expected to be 6.6bn m3 compared with 5.7bn m3 last year.

The northern Chinese province will speed up exploration and development of CBM and increase proven reserves and production, said Zhou Jianchun, director of the Shanxi provincial department of natural resources.

Ten major CBM projects will be built this year, adding 2bn m3 to the annual production capacity, said Zhou. The province’s proven reserves reached 667.5bn m3 by the end of 2018.
