China Publishes Draft Related to Gas Infrastructure

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has solicited public feedback on a new draft pertaining to country’s gas infrastructure.

As per the draft, the term natural gas infrastructure includes natural gas pipelines, gas storage facilities, LNG terminals, natural gas liquefaction facilities, gas compression set facilities and related ancillary facilities.

The draft covers all forms of conventional and unconventional natural gasses like coal bed methane, shale gas and coal gas.

The orderly development of natural gas infrastructure, to accelerate and promote natural gas infrastructure to provide public services to ensure safe and stable supply of natural gas, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Board has formulated a "gas infrastructure construction and operational management approach", NDRC said.

NDRC said that although there has been rapid rise in China's natural gas industry and increase in gas supply there is a lag in the storage capacity, coupled with absence of relevant laws and regulations governing this area.

The Commission said that it is seeking comments till August 16.
