Chilean LNG Plant Job Awarded

Amec Foster Wheeler said March 8 it has been awarded an 'owner's engineer contract' by GNL Quintero to provide engineering services at its Quintero LNG regasification terminal in Chile.

The UK-based contractor will participate in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) bid evaluation, as well as providing engineering services. Expansion involves the construction of a third storage tank and additional equipment to increase Quintero's regasification capacity.

Regasification capacity for LNG imports at Quintero was initially expanded from 10mn m³/d (3.65bn m³/yr) to 15mn m³/d 2015, and the latest expansion will increase it further to 20mn m³/d (7.3bn m³/yr). Shareholders in the terminal are Spain's Enagas, Chilean state Enap, and Oman Oil.

Amec FW president of oil, gas and chemicals Thomas Grell noted that it was appointed the owner's engineer during the first expansion of the plant and LNG truck-loading facility: "We're looking forward to continuing our close partnership with GNL Quintero to maximise the value of its Chilean assets."
