Chevron Halts Gorgon T1 Production

Chevron has stopped production at first train of Gorgon LNG project in Australia.

“Production from Gorgon LNG Train 1 has been temporarily halted as we assess some recent performance variations. Train 2 production is unaffected, and we continue to produce LNG and load cargos,” a company spokesperson said in a statement emailed to NGW.

The first train has seen interruptions a few times since it shipped its first cargo in March this year. The first production outage was reported in April when Chevron said production has been temporarily halted due to mechanical issues with the propane refrigerant circuit on Train 1 at the plant site.

The spokesperson did not provide any further details why production has been stopped this time, or how much time it will it take to get it running again.

Gorgon project is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (47.3%), ExxonMobil (25%), Shell (25%), Osaka Gas (1.25%), Tokyo Gas (1%) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417%).
