Chevron Inks Oz Gas Deal

Chevron Australia July 24 announced the signing of a domestic gas sales agreement with the South32-operated Worsley Alumina joint venture for supply of natural gas from its gas portfolio across the Wheatstone, Gorgon and North West Shelf facilities.

Starting mid-2019, the company will supply approximately 60 petajoules of equity domestic gas over the term of the agreement for the operation of the Worsley Alumina refinery, Chevron Australia said without offering any further details.

“We are working to increase the supply of natural gas into Australia and international energy markets to help realise the objective of affordable solutions to delivering additional energy the world needs while reducing emissions globally,” Chevron Australia managing director Al Williams said.

Woodside too signed a gas supply deal with Worsley Alumina joint venture the same day. It will supply approximately 40 petajoules (1bn m3) of pipeline gas to the joint venture. Worsley Alumina joint venture is held by South32 (86%), Japan Alumina Associates (10%) and Sojitz (4%).
