Dutch Producers Launch Joint Well Decom Campaign

Six oil and gas operators working off the Netherlands will for the first time in the country's history undertake a joint campaign for decommissioning gas wells, Dutch decommissioning platform Nexstep reported on February 24.

Nexstep has issued a tender for the work on behalf of producers NAM, Neptune Energy, ONE-Dyas, Petrogas, Total E&P Nederland and Wintershall Noordzee.

"It is great that we succeeded in setting up this joint campaign. Special working groups from the oil and gas companies have worked very hard to make this happen," Nexstep general manager Jacqueline Vaessen said, adding that the work would begin this year.

Such collaboration offers advantages, such as a greater effect of the learning curve due to the larger number of wells being removed," he continued. "Nexstep will therefore continue to explore the possibilities for new joint campaigns together with the operators."
