Cheniere Ships Milestone LNG Cargo

US LNG developer Cheniere Energy said January 27 it had produced and shipped its 1,000th cargo of LNG, the fastest producer in the world to reach the milestone.

The 1,000-cargo mark was reached just four years after Cheniere began operating its first liquefaction and export facilities at Sabine Pass in Louisiana. The 1,000 cargoes, it said, were produced at both Sabine Pass and its newer Corpus Christi terminal in Texas.

“Reaching 1,000 cargoes of LNG faster than any producer in history is a testament to the performance of our people and the culture of our company,” Cheniere CEO Jack Fusco said. “Our focus on reliability and safety through the entire LNG production process enabled us to reach this milestone, while fulfilling our commitments to our foundation customers.”

Sabine Pass (27mn mt/yr) consists of six liquefaction trains, five of which are operational with a sixth under construction. Corpus Christi (13.5mn mt/yr) consists of two operational trains, with a third under construction and expected to be in service in 2021.
