Cheniere Advises Completion of Fifth Louisiana Train

US developer Cheniere Energy said March 8 substantial completion has been reached on the 4.5mn mt/yr Train 5 at its Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Louisiana and its EPC contractor, Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals, has given it control of the unit.

This is the second substantial completion of a liquefaction train announced by Cheniere this week, following an earlier announcement related to Train 1 at the Corpus Christi facility in Texas. All five trains at Sabine Pass have now been completed ahead of schedule and within project budgets; regulatory approvals for a sixth train have been received and final investment decision will depend on marketing success.

Cheniere has sale and purchase agreements with UK utility Centrica and Total Gas & Power North America for Train 5 with first delivery due in August 2019.
