Chart Industries Joins Oz LNG Marine Fuel Institute

New York-listed Chart Industries has joined Perth-based LNG Marine Fuel Institute (LNG MFI), which is working on accelerating the adoption of LNG as marine fuel.

“The LNG MFI is delighted to announce the membership of Chart Industries to a growing coalition of companies committed to LNG as the primary marine fuel in the transition to carbon-free shipping,” LNG MFI said on May 5.

LNG MFI CEO Margot Matthews said that as a key equipment and systems provider in applications that utilise LNG for clean-burning and economical natural gas, Chart Industries will bring valuable insight, background and experience to the Institute.

“LNG bunkering requires flexibility particularly in these early stages of development and Chart Industries has the experience we need in the design and installation of small scale LNG equipment and systems,” Matthews said.

Chart Industries CEO Jill Evanko said the company is looking forward to the new relationship and the positive benefits it could bring to move towards LNG as a marine fuel.

“As members of the MFI we are looking forward to further enhancing LNG as a commercially viable and clean burning marine fuel for 2020 and beyond and contributing to a cleaner environment for the communities in which our equipment and solutions are used,” Evanko said.
