Centrica Signs Supply Contract with Gazprom

British Gas parent company Centrica has announced today a deal with Gazprom Marketing & Trading, which will see the Gazprom subsidiary deliver 2.4 billion cubic metres of gas to Centrica over the course of three years.

The deal will see delivery of the gas begin from 2014 and will be delivered through the National Balancing Point (NBP) in the UK

Centrica says the deal is part of its drive to ensure the energy security of the British market, complementing a 10-year deal with Statoil and a 3-year deal with Qatargas both made last year. Under those deals, Statoil will supply 50 billion cubic metres of gas to Centrica over the 10-year period, beginning in 2015. Qatargas will deliver 9.9 billion cubic metres of LNG to Centrica over its 3-year contract.

"Centrica is at the forefront of helping to deliver UK energy security and this deal is a natural fit with one of the world’s largest gas producers and exporters," Centrica Energy, Origination Director Cordi O'Hara said today.
