Canadian Enviro Regulator Seeks Comments on Kwispaa LNG

In the wake of Steelhead LNG filing a project description for its 24mn metric tons/year LNG project at Sarita Bay on Vancouver Island’s west coast earlier in October, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) said October 29 it must now determine whether the project requires a federal environmental assessment (EA).

To help inform that decision, the CEAA is seeking comments from the public and indigenous groups on Kwispaa LNG and its potential effects on the environment.

All comments received under this process will be considered public, and must be filed with the CEAA in Vancouver by November 18. After reviewing the comments and the Kwispaa LNG project description, the CEAA will post its decision regarding development of an EA on its website, after which the public will have three more opportunities to comment.
