Canadian 7Gen in Responsible Gas Deal

Canadian producer Seven Generations Energy (7Gen) said February 10 it had entered into a responsible natural gas supply arrangement with Quebec distributor Energir governed by the EO100™ Standard for Responsible Energy Development.

It is the first transaction executed under the EO100™ framework, which Energir – formerly Gaz Metro and Quebec’s largest gas distributor – developed as a way to better understand the product it purchases and distributes and to reduce its environmental footprint. The distributor aims to have about a fifth of its system gas purchases dedicated under EO100™ in the first year of its roll-out.

Seven Generations will dedicate about a tenth of its production – some 50mn ft3/day – to Energir under the EO100™ framework, and will deliver the gas to Quebec through existing pipelines.
