Canada’s Spartan Delta in Montney acquisitions

Canadian producer Spartan Delta said June 22 it had acquired “strategic” assets in the Gold Creek and Simonette areas of the Alberta Montney in a pair of transactions totalling about C$10.1mn (US$8.1mn).

At Simonette, Spartan Delta acquired 8,700 net ha (21,500 net acres) contiguous to its existing Montney land base. Once shut-in wells are reactivated, the acquired assets will produce about 300 barrels of oil equivalent/day (51% oil, 44% natural gas, 5% natural gas liquids) into a nearby gas plant jointly-owned by Spartan Delta.

At Gold Creek, about 4,856 net ha of land contiguous with Spartan’s existing land base were acquired, with 40 extended reach horizontal drilling locations identified. It expects to drill two wells in the second half, part of a four-well program at Gold Creek expected to get underway next week.

The acquisitions bring Spartan’s total Alberta Montney land position to more than 53,000 net ha.
