Shale Gas Insider: Bundu Oil and Gas Lodges Updated EMP

Challenger Energy’s subsidiary, Bundu Oil and Gas Exploration, has lodged an updated environmental management programme (EMP) with the Petroleum Agency South Africa (Pasa), as part of its application to explore shale gas reserves.

The company expects to hear from the South African regulatory authorities as to whether it will have permission to explore for shale gas in the Karoo Basin by the third quarter of 2015.

The application follows extensive public consultation from its shale gas application and advice from the South African government that its existing EMP, from the company’s initial 2010 application, required updating.
